Doing nothing all day, your body still burns about

0

calories per day

That includes your resting metabolism of 0 calories plus the light movement of everyday living. Eat less than this number and you're in a calorie deficit, every 3,500-calorie deficit adds up to about one pound lost.

Now make that number work for you

Weight Loss Navigator tracks your calories against this exact number every day, so you always know if you're on pace.

What that number looks like on a real day

Your TDEE is the starting point. Every day is just subtraction from it.

Your body burns (TDEE) 2,200
Food you logged today − 1,500
Workout you logged (30 min walk) + 200

Today's deficit 900

That's it. That's the whole calculation, every single day.

× 4 days

Four days like this is roughly 1 pound of fat (about 3,500 calories).

× 7 days

A full week at this pace is about 1.8 pounds, without a single perfect day.

Weight Loss Navigator does this arithmetic for you as you log, and shows the running streak of days you finished under your number.

What is TDEE?

TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure, the total number of calories your body burns in a day. Even if you did nothing at all, your body would still burn calories keeping your heart beating, your lungs breathing, and your brain working.

How is this calculated?

We use the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, one of the most accurate formulas for estimating your resting calorie burn, based on your age, gender, height, and weight. This calculator assumes no exercise at all. It's your baseline. Any activity you add burns calories on top of this number.

How do I use this to lose weight?

Eat fewer calories than your TDEE and you create a calorie deficit. A total deficit of about 3,500 calories equals roughly one pound of weight loss. Stay a few hundred calories under your number each day, and the pounds come off steadily, no fad diets required.

The Weight Loss Navigator app does the daily math for you: log what you eat, log what you burn, and see your deficit build in real time.
